Continuous Improvement-
Central 51 has been awarded a $50,000 matching School Maintenance Grant through ISBE. Superintendent Heidbreder applied for the grant to finish the ceiling tile at CIS and to add fobs to the baseball/softball concession stand. The eighth grade hallway at CIS was not part of the recently finished $14 million renovation and construction project that was funded from referendum and district funds. In order to add the ceiling tile to match the rest of the building, the sprinkler system and boiler pipes need to be rerouted to provide the proper ceiling height. LED lighting will also be installed in the hallway to decrease the energy usage and will provide considerable savings to the district. We continue to focus on making our facilities the best they can be for our students.

Knit for a Cause had a holiday community service field trip this afternoon. Students taught a craft hour to residents at the Villas of Holly Brook in town. There was great turn out with 19 residents showing up to make the scrap yarn winter hat ornaments. The students and residents both had so much fun this afternoon.
What an excellent way to spread some holiday cheer this season!
