Mr. Clarke’s "Tournament of Historical Significance" project looked a little different this year, but it was still a fun and engaging learning opportunity for our 7th Grade Social Studies students!
Typically, 7th graders choose their top-32 historical figures in U.S. History, each student then picks one historical figure, and then they go through a March Madness-styled tournament in which students debate against one another with the winner moving on from round to round.
Prior to the closure, students established their top-32 but were unable to do the debate-formatted tournament. The tournament still took place, though, through student-led research and a vote on who they thought was most historically significant in each matchup.
Check out the final brackets with the winners!
1st grade students Aarush G. and Daniel B. went above and beyond for Mrs. Davidshofer! They completed informational reading, created a web, and even wrote a paragraph about a spring “critter” of their choice. ✏️📓💙
