Emily Whitaker is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst with nearly 7 years of experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum.
She grew up in East Peoria, IL and recently moved to Washington. After high school, Emily attended the University of Missouri where she received bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology in 2018 followed by a master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2021. Emily completed her master’s practicum at the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment in Columbia, MO. During her time at the Thompson Center she gained experience creating and implementing behavioral interventions, conducting assessments and providing skill acquisition services to children ages 3 to 18.
During her time within the field of ABA, Emily has worked with learners of all ages and within multiple skills areas ranging from functional communication, social skills/engagement, academics, daily living skills, maladaptive behaviors and their appropriate replacements, etc. and has extensive training and experience working with children who exhibit severe and challenging behaviors. Before becoming a BCBA, Emily worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) for 3.5 years within the clinical, school and home settings. Additionally, during her practicum Emily served as a case manager within the University of Missouri’s Severe Behavior Clinic.
Emily has a strong passion for creating positive change in the lives of others, nurturing growth and promoting inclusivity in all settings. Prior to joining Central District 51, Emily worked for 2 years as a BCBA at an ABA clinic in Peoria, IL. Emily is looking forward to expanding her expertise to the school setting and beginning her role as District BCBA for Central 51 in order to provide effective support for students, teachers and staff alike!
